Adam Neely

 

Adam Neely is an electric and upright bass player/composer/teacher from the Washington DC Metropolitan area. He is the winner of the 2009 Herb Pomeroy award for excellence in jazz composition as well as the winner of the 2006 Maryland Distinguished Scholar in the Arts award and the 2006 Berklee North American Scholarship Tour. Adam has recently graduated summa cum laude with a degree Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music in Boston, where Adam worked as a core tutoring supervisor, tutoring students in ear training, harmony and counterpoint, as well as training fellow tutors in Berklee’s unique approach to theory and harmony. Adam currently teaches private upright and electric bass in his studio in Washington DC as well as correspondence/skype theory/composition lessons.


An accomplished performer as well as teacher and composer, Adam has performed at the Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts, the Berklee Performance Center, the Takoma Park Jazz Festival and the Presidential Yacht, the USS Sequoia. He is also an accomplished theater musician, performing in community and regional theater in both the Boston and DC areas.
